Senior Scientist, Planetary Science Institute
Scott Mest is a Senior Scientist working with the Planetary Science Institute (PSI, based in Tucson, AZ) since 2007. Scott has over 20 years experience as a planetary geologist. Most of his research involves using various data sets (images, topography, and spectral) acquired by NASA, ESA, ISRO, and JAXA spacecraft to conduct GIS-based (Geographical Information System) mapping to create geologic and geomorphic maps of the surfaces of different planetary bodies in the solar system. Scott has lead or been on teams that have mapped areas on Mercury, the Moon, and Mars, and has recently been involved in the global geologic mapping of the asteroid Vesta as a Dawn at Vesta Participating Scientist, and the minor planet Ceres with the Dawn at Ceres Guest Investigator Program. Scott is an off-site scientist currently residing in the Boyertown area.
